The major benefit of home care is that your loved one remains independent and gets all the necessary medical care at home. There is no better place than home. It is where an individual can thrive and be with family — which is of great importance during the terminal stages of life. Another major advantage of home health care is that it delays institutionalization, which tends to elicit despair and loss of hope in the elderly. While home health care is not the same thing as a hospital, there is a lot of evidence that it boosts morale, improves depression and promotes well-being.
Home is also safer in many ways: the chances of acquiring an infection are much greater in a nursing home or a hospital, and this risk is negligible at home. Individuals have maximal freedom at home — there are no regulations on when and what one can do. Home care is individualized and personalized to meet the specific needs of each person.

Safety comes first
Our primary focus in home care nursing is to ensure that your loved one is safe. All our health care staff are trained and educated on safety issues so that these areas are not overlooked. We believe an educated staff can better look after patients. Our nurses and other health care staff are regularly briefed on:
- Home safety, such as fire
- Assessment for abuse
- Domestic violence
- OSHA compliance
- Wound care
- Cultural and diversity training
Private duty nursing
There are times when your loved one may need round-the-clock assessment and care. At Supportive Health, we offer private duty nursing. All our private duty nurses are registered and licensed in the state. The majority of our nurses come with a background in home care and can meet all the specific demands of a patient. Our private duty nurses are appropriate when you need extended assistance, from a few hours to a few days. A referral to our private duty nurses can be obtained from physicians, nurses and other health care professionals. They are trained to provide services not only for adults but also for children.
